The Joy of Painting

Landscape oil painting techniques were taught on the television show The Joy of Painting, which was hosted by painter Bob Ross. The show's purpose was not to teach viewers "fast painting" despite Ross's ability to finish a painting in 30 minutes. Instead, he aimed to teach viewers a few tricks in the time allocated for the show. The show premiered on January 11th,1983, and ran until Ross' death on May 17th,1994, a year later.
