The premise of the show is a target person or persons will be directed to believe they have been contestants on a reality tv series. In fact, every one of the other participants in the series that is supposed -- including the host -- are both celebrities, and the outcome of the series and their activities are scripted in a effort to elicit comedic reactions out of the goals. The series's first season, The Joe Schmo Show, aired in 2003, also also its season, Joe Schmo 2, aired in 2004. The season's hoax has been ran as the hoax was a since a reality competition series.
On December 10, 2012, Spike announced it had been bringing The Joe Schmo Show back for another season, that was released on January 8, 2013.
The only constant presence in every three Joe Schmo seasons has been voice celebrity Ralph Garman, who has served since the"emcee" for three variants.
