Mission: Impossible
The American television series Mission: Impossible was developed and first produced by Bruce Geller. It details the exploits of the Impossible Missions Force, a group of covert government operatives. Dan Briggs, played by Steven Hill, is the team's manager during the first season; Jim Phelps, played by Peter Graves, is in command throughout the following two. The theme song by Lalo Schifrin is played after Briggs or Phelps hear Briggs or Phelps' instructions on a tape that then self-destructs. From September 1966 to March 1973, the show ran on the CBS network. From 1988 to 1990, it aired on ABC for two seasons with only Graves remaining in the cast. It later served as the model for a successful series of Tom Cruise-starring theatrical motion movies that premiered in 1996.
