Food and Drink Will Be a television Set on BBC Two. First broadcast between 2002 and 1982, it was that the very first tv programme in the UK to pay the subject of food and beverage without cookery and recipe presentations.
Created in 1982 from BBC producer Henry Murray from an initial idea from Jancis Robinson, Fay Maschler and Paul Levy, the first show was presented by Simon Bates along with Gillian Miles, also introduced Jilly Goolden within her very first regular television appearances as the programme's most wine expert. Russell Harty presented filmed location reports from restaurants around Britain. This show featured the innovative notion of a small expanding audience of 20 people have been called"tasters and Trainers". The very first show broadcast in summer time but was instantly successful, attracting an average audience of 1.5 million weekly, a top evaluation for BBC 2 in the summer in the 80s.
Series were presented by Chris Kelly and chef Michael Barry with Oz Clarke and wine pros Jilly Goolden.
A spinoff panel game, Food and Drink Summer Quiz, aired in 1987 during the series's summertime.
The theme music was Simon May.
Food and Beverage February 2013, returned to BBC 2 on 4 co-hosted from Michel Roux Jr and Kate Goodman.
