Casanova
The adventurer and libertine Giovanni Jacopo Casanova lived from 17-25 to 1798, but in this six-part show Dennis Potter strove to find a significance. He commented that Casanova"was focused on religious and sexual freedom, and those are what we have to address ourselves to now." Casanova was imprisoned in 1755 in Venice, and Potter used that event being a fundamental device, always inter-cutting to comparison Casanova's amorous lit, in the gloom of a cell that was half-darkened with his confinement that was oppressive.
