The Wonderful Wizard of Oz: The True Story
This iconic narrative had been first written in 1900 by L Frank Baum, a Chicago businessman, journalist, chicken breeder, actor, boutique owner, Hollywood movie manager and fan of all things technological and innovative. His life spanned an era of innovation and achievement and several of these improvements helped to fuel that this wonderful story teller's imagination. His dream was to generate the very first fairy-tale that is American that is genuine and engage, inspire and the narrative continues to fascinate tens of thousands of fans of all ages from all around the earth. This documentary explores the way the Wonderful Wizard of Oz has come to symbolise the American Dream and includes previously unseen footage from the Baum family archives, still clips and photographs from the early Oz films, in addition to interviews with family members, literary pros and American historians since it tells the story of one individual's lifetime in parallel into the development of modern America.
