The Long and the Short and the Tall
An adaptation of Willis Hall's original play. British soldiers are in the forest recording jungle noises and troop noises so that the recordings can be played back by other forces in order to deceive the enemy into thinking they are in the jungle. Radio reception becomes increasingly difficult to obtain as the group moves closer to the base camp, until it becomes the only channel they can plainly hear. They've learned that they're only a few miles away from a Japanese camp! Private Bamforth, a raucous and publicly avowed "non-hero" who has nothing but bad things to say about everyone, including Corporal Johnstone, adds to the tension (who holds an equal dislike for Bamforth). Everyone's true colors emerge when they are forced to hold a captured Japanese soldier hostage.
