The Conductor

On a trip to the US, a violinist in a small-town Polish orchestra—whose husband serves as the group's leader—makes friends with the famed symphonic conductor. He was once in love with the mother of the violinist, it turns out. The slightly unstable hypochondriac conductor comes back to Poland to command the regional orchestra. The violinist serves as a stand-in for her mother in his attempt to restart an old love affair. Both personally and professionally, her spouse dislikes the conductor.
