The Bang Bang Club
From the early to mid'90s, when the South African system of apartheid had been in its death throes, four musicians - Greg Marinovich, Kevin Carter, Ken Oosterbroek and also João Silva - bonded by their friendship and a sense of purpose, functioned together to chronicle the violence and trauma leading to the 1994 election of Nelson Mandela as president. Their job is insecure and dangerous, possibly vaguely so, as they thrust themselves in the center of twisted clashes between forces backed by the federal government (like Inkatha Zulu warriors) and people in aid of Mandela's African National Congress.
