Strike
The film depicts a hit in 1903 by the workers of a mill in pre-revolutionary Russia, along with their subsequent suppression. The film is most famous for a sequence near the end in the violent setting down of this strike is cross-cut with footage of cattle being slaughtered, although there are several other points from the movie at which animals function as metaphors for the states of assorted individuals. The following motif within the film is collectivism in resistance to individualism which was regarded as a convention of western picture.
