Ripley's Game
A villa in the Veneto is home to Tom Ripley, who is cool, urbane, wealthy, and homicidal. He lives there with Luisa, his harpsichord-playing girlfriend. A former business buddy from Berlin's underworld contacts Ripley and requests his assistance in assassinating a rival. Ripley, who has always been interested in human nature, sets up a game in which he attempts to transform a gentle and innocent neighborhood picture framer into a hit guy. Jonathan Trevanny, an artisan who is dying of illness, has a wife and a little boy, and he has very little to leave them. Is it possible for Ripley to keep control if she drags Jonathan into the game? Does it come to a halt after a single killing? What if Ripley develops a sense of morality?
