Rebellion

It was April 1988 on the island of Ouvéa in New Caledonia. A squad of Kanak freedom fighters kidnaps and holds hostage 30 members of the Gendarmerie. 300 soldiers from France are dispatched to the area in order to restore order. A confrontation between two men occurs between Philippe Legorjus (leader of the terrorist squad) and Alphonse Dianou (head of the kidnappers). They will make an effort to make dialogue a success by drawing on their shared ideals. However, in the midst of a presidential election, when the stakes are high, morality does not always trump expediency in maintaining order. A violent and unsettling epic that marks the return of Mathieu Kassovitz to the big screen, both in front and behind the camera.
