Pray for Rain

After Emma Gardner, a whip bright NYC reporter sees of her dad's untimely death, she returns to her city to find that the royal farming community of her youth has been ravaged by drought, and it has come to be a place tormented by gangs and the ill effects of extreme poverty. She quickly understands that the accidental death of her dad wasn't accidental in any way. The lists of suspects comprise a regional warlord, too zealous environmentalists and other farmers envious of her father reputation.
