Lullaby of Broadway
Pretty Melinda Howard has been performing with a musical group in another country. She returns home to surprise her mother, whom she believes to be a successful Broadway star with a Manhattan mansion. She had no idea that her mother is a burned-out cabaret performer with a penchant for liquor. When she arrives at the mansion, she is welcomed by two servants who happen to be her mother's friends. Adolph Hubbell, a kind-hearted Broadway producer who is likewise caught into the farce, owns the house. Hubbell is taken with Melinda and decides to cast her in his upcoming musical. Melinda also finds love with one of the show's gorgeous hoofers. Everything is going well for Melinda, except she wants to see her mother, who keeps postponing their meeting.
