Johnny Got His Gun
Joe would be hit by a mortar shell over the previous afternoon of World War I. He lies in a fate worse than death - a quadruple amputee who's lost his arms, arms, eyes, ears, nose and mouth. Unbeknown to his doctors, he remains conscious and able to consider reliving his life through memories and dreams and not able to distinguish whether he's dreaming or awake. He remains annoyed by his own situation, until one day when Joe finds a way.
