Hearts and Minds
Many times throughout his presidency, Lyndon B. Johnson said that eventual victory from the Vietnam War relied upon the U.S. military winning the"hearts and minds" of the Vietnamese individuals. Film maker Peter Davis uses Johnson's expression in an ironic context in this anti-war documentary, filmed and published while the Vietnam War was under way, juxtaposing interviews with military characters like U.S. Army Chief of Staff William C. Westmoreland with shocking scenes of violence and brutality.
