Distant Voices, Still Lives
The 2nd film in Terence Davies's autobiographical series (along side"Trilogy" and"The Long Day Closes") is a impressionistic view of a working family in 1940s and 1950s Liverpool, dependent on Davies's family. Through a collection of exquisite tableaux Davies creates a photo album of a troubled family wrestling with the complexity of love.
