In 1914, Pancho Villa, a Mexican rebel, invites studios to film his actual clashes against Porfrio Diaz's troops in order to raise funding for gun and ammo purchases. Through producer D.W. Griffith, the Mutual Film Corporation expresses interest in the project and sends filmmaker Frank Thayer to negotiate a contract with Pancho Villa himself.
