Frances, after a demanding divorce, a 35 year old book editor in San Francisco takes a visit of Tuscany at the urgings of her buddies. On a whim she begins to piece her life together with the villa also buys Bramasole, a run down villa in the Tuscan countryside and discovers life sometimes has methods for giving her what she wanted.
