Based on a gruesome true story, after 15-year-old Alex revealed she was homosexual to her Mormon parents, they all feared thus deeply on her spirit they shot her away from their Southern California home and placed her against her will at a conversion therapy home in Utah. Trapped for eight weeks together with strangers, Alex faced beatings and punishments that were intended to cure her homosexuality. Alex was allowed to go to school, where she became friends with a boy friend who was the president of this gay-straight alliance, after realizing that she would need to submit to their rules in order to live. He helped Alex be in touch with an lawyer, who helped orchestrate her escape.
