The Grounds
Calvin, an alcoholic wastrel, is compelled to discover a brand-new task after he is terminated from his grounds-keeping task at a fairway. After scaring away various other potential applicants, he is worked with to often tend the premises of a beautiful hill manor by Julie, the personal assistant to the owner of the home. Jack, heartbroken and suicidal, has refused to leave his property because his wife left him for a previous love a year prior. On the evening Jack decides to finish everything, an inebriated Calvin mistakenly interrupts his boss' suicide attempt. Calvin convinces Jack that it's ineffective to eliminate himself when he has the means to proceed living his reclusive lifestyle indefinitely. The two bond over their shared disposition to numb as well as busy their minds rather than face the discomforts of their past.
