Love in Moreno Valley
James, who is from MoVal, a multi-cultural neighborhood in California, plays guitar in his room and hides from his emotionally disturbed single-father, who is unbearable due to his fantasy baseball fixation and amorous life. When tenth grade begins at Vista Christian High School, James is reunited with Abe, an outcast whose antics attract a lot of negative attention to both him and James, much to the dismay of their strange, strict administrator, Mr. Durante. Meanwhile, James is focused with impressing Carla, a lovely Latina, only to discover that Abe's outlandish behavior is hurting his chances. Principal Durante punishes the two by forcing them to perform the weekly chapel assembly, which only makes things worse for them.
