Geek, and You Shall Find
Following their attendance at a local comic book convention, three filmmakers find themselves profoundly moved by the stories that are told with them by cosplayers. As a result, they decide to examine geek culture even further. The trio not only begins to find answers to why people are drawn to superheroes and stories about superheroes, but also how being a geek could help them live deeper, more meaningful lives as they attend other conventions across the country and speak with legendary creators such as Kevin Eastman, Stan Lee, and George R.R. Martin. The anthology Geek, and You Shall Find details the origins of a number of well-known fictional works, such as Superman, Star Wars, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Game of Thrones, amongst others. Creators have revealed how often they have been influenced by real-life social evils by discussing the origins of these characters and the environments in which they exist. This video, by continuing to speak with fans who have been inspired by these inventions, illustrates how superheroes have the capacity to tackle these social concerns as well. This is maybe the most essential aspect of the film.
